Бедную назву мястэчка і ракі перакручвалі і так, і гэтак. Паводле клясычнага правапісу, горад і рака называюцца Бярэзіна. Паводле савецкай правапіснай традыцыі, калі не памыляюся, горад называецца Беразіно, а рака — Беразіна. Таксама ўжываецца назва мястэчка — Бярэзань (але я ня ўпэўнены, ці гэты варыянт недзе афіцыйна фіксуецца). І вось, ня мог не сфатаграфаваць, геніяльны трасянкавы клон — Бяразіна — на афіцыйнай шыльдзе.

Where is the accent supposed to be on all these words? On the bold letters?

Hmm. It makes little sense: The accent is a part of the spoken language and the spoken language is supposed to stay the same, despite the different orthographies. So how can it be Бяр[э]зіна in lassical orthography and Беразін[a] in soviet?

It’s because when we say “classical orthography” (клясычны правапіс) we actually misuse the term, because the differences between the two systems are not purely orthographic. As with the geographic names, there are a lot of examples when people who use standard Soviet orthography spell place names differently from those who write in the classical orthography. Here are just a few examples:
Classical — Soviet
Менск — Мінск
Берасьце — Брэст
Горадня — Гродна
Маладэчна — Маладзечна
Талачын — Талочын
