Murder on Karlovo namesti

This Czech journalist was shot dead 200 yards away from where we live. We pass by Karlovo park virtually every day. And you know why the man was shot? Because he wanted to protect a woman from an armed attacker. The journalist from TV Nova Michal Velíšek was just walking in a park with his little daughter when he heard a woman yelling for help. He tried to intervene and got a bullet (a few bullets, actually…) The way Czech police handled the situation is also pretty damn scary. Read this article in Prague Post.
P.S. In other news, this was probably also some sort of sick psycho:
• CNN: Blast wounds 50 in Belarus
(P.P.S. And speaking of “Belarussian”, when a friend of mine saw that on CNN, he said with a sarcastic grin, even Al-Jazeera knows how to spell “Belarusian” in English.)

Bah :( Poor guy.. all he did was help that woman. Pathetic how a known criminal with a mile-long record continuously gets arrested and released. Hope that bastard finally gets arrested and put away for life.
Yes, I saw the news about the bomb on local TV… which is rare, considering this is the 3rd Belarus-related news article to have ever been in any form of local media. Do hope there will be no fatalities, and for this maddness to stop.
Ah yes, im not too surprised really. I remember an article about the many different ways “Belarusian” is spelled on the net. Whoever wrote it probably never even heard of the country. As did a female colleague I worked with a few weeks, somehow the topic came up and she didnt know Belarus existed.

[…] Remember I wrote about one month ago that a Czech journalist was shot dead 200 yards away from where we live? In the meantime, police found and arrested Lubina. Then he confessed, and besides DNA test proved it was his blood there. Several days ago he was brought to the crime scene to reenact the murder. He had to wear a bullet-proof vest and was guarded by 40 policemen, because police was afraid of some people attacking the murderer and lynching him or something. […]

Actually, Michal Velisek wasn’t journalist, but but “film editor” in “technical” meaning.
