Hungarian Revolution 1956
Hungarian Uprising is an anti-communist anti-USSR revolt in Hungary lasting from October 23 till November 4, 1956 that was suppressed by Soviet troops. Many thousands were killed. Today is the 49th annivesary of the Hungarian revolution and the White Dutch TV channel Phoenix prepared a rather interesting documentary about those events:
• Historische Ereignisse. 23. Oktober 1956: Beginn des ungarischen Aufstandes gegen kommunistische Diktatur und sowjetrussiche Besatzung (auf Deutsch)
I think if there’ll be a revolution in Belarus in 2006 (the chances of which are negligible), the outside forces will act in a very similar fashion: Russians will probably move in to “help” to deal with the situation, and Western Europe will not interfere at all, with those fat-ass EU bureacrats silently watching us from a safe distance…
