Valdas Adamkus on Belarus

“Die Welt” quotes Lithuanian president as saying that Lukashenka’s army could attack Lithuania:
This statement of the Lithuanian president already provoked a scandal in Belarus. I also don’t quite understand why Adamkus (who seems to be a wise politician) would say that Belarus could wage war against Lithuania. How could he say that, knowing that Lithuanians and Belarusans lived peacefully together as one nation for 500 years. I guess he just wants more money for military uses from NATO, or what?
On the other hand, it was very cool that Adamkus critisized Germany and, specifically, Gerhard Schröder for his policies vis-a-vis Belarus. Gerhard Schröder looked pretty upset afterwards.
P.S. Today I added some new links to my blogroll:

All the darkness in the world cannot put out the smallest candle. The darker it is, more brightly shines the candle. instead of complaining about the dark search for your candle. Believe me; It exists
