World War Three
Telegraph: “The nightmare of nuclear war in Europe - a spectre that haunted the world for half a century - stood revealed yesterday in terrible detail.
In a historic break with the past, Poland’s newly elected government threw open its top secret Warsaw Pact military archives - including a 1979 map revealing the Soviet bloc’s vision of a seven-day atomic holocaust between Nato and Warsaw Pact forces.
The defence minister, Radek Sikorsky, showed off the map at an emotional press conference.
He described it as a “personally shattering experience”, pointing to a long line of nuclear mushroom clouds neatly stamped along the Vistula, where Soviet bloc commanders assumed that Nato tactical nuclear weapons would rain down to block reinforcements arriving from Russia.
About two million Polish civilians would die in such a war, and the country would be all but wiped off the face of the Earth, he said.” (full article + the map)
P.S. And, btw, I think we are going to have our own mini World War Three in Belarus this week (or, maybe, next week), after Lukashenka’s new amendments to the criminal code will become a law. The new additions are very much like the Article 58 of the Soviet (RSFSR) criminal code. You can get two years of jail time just for saying bad things about Belarus to the foreigners. So I can easily get two-years sentence just for keeping this blog.

Those amendments to the criminal code are insane! How much further can freedom of speech be taken down? Nearly all “free” media has been exterminated, you can already get arrested for “defaming” the president and so on. This is just hiding the truth. When someone has to say something bad about anything at all, this person has a REASON to say these things. Only a fool would hide a problem instead of solving it as I like to say.
To be safe, you should register this domain on someone else’s name. Your real name, address and so on is on it… wait, never mind. You made it anonymous already :) Good thinking.

Yep.
Here’s a good summary of the proposed legislation:

If your blog is defined as a mass media I believe you may risk up to five years in prison.
Best regards,

Gentlemen, by pressing a wrong button I accidentally deleted your latest comments. So here’s cut-and-paste:
Tobias Ljungvall:
“…Eh, no, sorry, that was if you would appeal to the international community to help do something about Lukashenko. But you wouldn’t do that, would you?
/Tobias”

“Geez…
1. Training of participants for mass disturbances, or financing this.
2. Public calls for seizure of power.
3. Discrediting Belarus.
4. Calls for foreign states or organisations to intervene. (Up to five years of imprisonment if the calls are made through mass media.)
5. Organising or participating in activities of closed organisations.
You can forget “proposed” legislation… this will become reality… I mean if you can modify the constitution at will, what’s stopping them from changing some petty criminal code? So… as far as I understand…
1. Planning, executing or donating money to a protest action will get you jailed.
2. Running a political party gets you jailed.
!!!
3. Just thought of this, wouldn’t voting anti-luka be “anti” Belarus?
!!!
Other than him loving to stamp his name on everything that is not his, he has absolutely no relation to Belarus for me. At least im still free to say he should go back to his sovkhoz, on the noth pole that is.
4. Inviting representatives from the US, EU or any other foreing body will gets you jailed.
5. Running any private organization gets you jailed.
> According to KGB chairman Stepan Sukharenko, introducing the package in parliament, “there are plenty of those, in Belarus and elsewhere, who are taking steps to destabilise the political situation in our country…
No kidding… it has to end sooner or later. Seems the propaganda machine is running at full speed to make sure everyone votes for luka to remain in power till his death. Well, it dont seem people will have a choice pretty soon as you will get jailed for not voting for him. (Altho this probably has already happened)”

Tobias Ljungvall: Nice to see you here. I read your blog with great interest. The only critical remark I have is that I wish you wrote more often.
> …Eh, no, sorry, that was if you would appeal to the international community to help do something about Lukashenko. But you wouldn’t do that, would you?
:)
Actually, I’m pretty skeptical about Western reaction or “help”, especially from the EU (because USA did give some real help, such as 50 years of non-stop RFE/RL broadcasting in Belarusan language). Just to give you the most recent example of EU support for Belarus here’s my entry about Uta Zapf’s statements she made today:
