Baptizing Austrian Airlines

This happened several months ago at Minsk-2 international airport. Minsk mayor M.Paulau together with our Russian Orthodox (sic!) clergymen baptized an Austrian Airlines airplane Fokker-100, dubbing it “Minsk”.

I saw the news report on the state TV, and it was bizarre, like watching a tribal ritual, Orthdox clergy being the savages. A black-clothed priest was walking around the airplane sprinkling it with drops of “holy” water using his thurible (or whatever that thingy is called). After that our Minsk mayor got to sit in the cockpit on the pilot’s seat and play around with the controls like a little kid. At then end Austrian Airlines flight attendants served champagne and clergy people eagerly drank the alcohol.

I wonder why Austrians decided to participate in this circus.

Hey, White Russian! It’s Austria, not Deutschland. Please use the appropriate category next time, Genosse!

Oblomow: Oh, wirklich? This map says otherwise.

  3. Oblomow Says:

Ok, White Russian, now tell me about your imaginary friends, cause we’ve already seen a map of your imaginary Europe.

  4. Administrator Says:

So the map is OK, or do you have any problems with it?

P.S. And I didn’t know that Russian pseudo-intelligentsia from 19th century has such strong feelings about German country called Osterreich. ;)
