Islam, a barbaric religion vs Denmark, a free European country
Burning flags of Denmark, staging countless protests, boycotting Danish products, throwing eggs and stones at the Danish embassies, threatening with Kalashnikovs (BBC photos), kicking diplomats out, sending death threats to Danish journalists, this was the Islamic response to a couple cartoons published in a newspaper on the other side of the globe.
If this is not a sufficient proof to you that Islamic fundamentalism is a deadly barbaric threat to all of us, in the civilized world, then I don’t know what else could constitute a proof for you.
Personally I really liked this idea that we, Europeans, should buy more Danish products now in order to counteract the boycott of the intolerant Islamic barbarians from the Arab world.
Here’s a short list of some well-known Danish brands and products which I’ve compiled with the help of Google and Wikipedia:
- LEGO (toys)
- Carlsberg (one of the largest breweries in the world)
- Tuborg (also a part of Carlsberg)
- Stimorol (chewing gum)
- Maersk Group (transportation)
- Group 4 Securicor (world’s second largest security services provider)
- Bang & Olufsen B&O (electronics)
- Danfoss (air conditioning)
- Danisco (food)
- Danske Bank (banking)
- Egmont (media)
- Grundfos (one of the world’s lead pump manufacturers)
- Lundbeck (pharmaceutical)
- Novo Nordisk (pharmaceutical, world leader in diabetes care)
- Scandinavian Airlines System, SAS (partially Danish; airline)
- Secunia (computer security)
- TDC (telecommunications)
- William Demant (health care)
- Arla Foods (food, dairy products; already lost millions in Saudi Arabia)
- Terma (aerospace, defense, radar;) — I had several job interviews with them and I had a fairly good chance of being hired, except that I happened to be of the wrong nationality. They normally hire only EU-nationals, for security reasons.

I find it the height of hypocrisy that people in Middle Eastern countries are in hysterics over caricatures of Mohammed when newspapers in those countries often publish offensive caricatures of Jews, complete with hook noses and devilish grins.

Except one thing: it’s not right to call Islam a “barbaric” religion. In the middle ages Christianity was very barbaric with the crusades, the inquisition and the protestant-catholic wars. Pure Islam is not barbaric, but in it’s current state it seems so.
The organization that are behind the current mess in Denmark and the mess in France a few months ago and all the mess around the world with the terror and that stuff - they are certainly barbaric.

As I wrote in one post of my blog–I don’t think any violence can settle the issues, The best way to resolve any disputes is through dialogue or negotiations. So I disagree with any boycotting and violent action toward Denmark!

I am not a muslim. Religion is not even high on my list of beliefs. But, thank you for your list of Dannish products.
In my opinion, nobody has the right to insult any religion, in any way or form. You will never see caricatures of a naked Pope Benedict, Buddha masturbating, Lord Siva & Vishnu in a homosexual relation in a Dannish paper. Nor will you find cartoons depicting Christ and Mary fornicating. Even in the interest of “free speech” and “free thinking”. What if…
Humans are barbaric, not religions. Some people use religion to influence other humans to behave in a barbaric manner. And then there are certain mass media who like to re-play the same clips of burning embassies over and over and over, for several days now.
I believe that a new Crusade (Christian Jihad) began soon after 9/11. It is a wonderful and perfect excuse. And I’m afraid Europe and the same regions of the last crusades will be the battleground, not America. It will NEVER be in America. It’s up to Europe and its neighbors (Arabs or otherwise) to try and roll things back. Encouraging open hatred of each other like what you guys have been doing will not help. Yeah, you’ll not be burning buildings today. But you WILL be forced to do worse things in the coming days or years. I’m now waiting to see news clips of burning Mosques this time. This is how things start anyways, history, which most of you have forgotten, have taught me well. All we need now is a new ‘Hitler’ (of European or Arabian origin) to come forth. The pendulum has swung all the way to the other end, it’s return trip is what we shd be preventing from happening. Can we slow it down or stop its return swing completely? Nope, you guys are not helping.
I’m not even living in the same region as most of you. But I can only watch in horror at the developments. Why are we humans so stupid to be so intollerant of each other?

Freedom of expression? I can say that here,in Turkey, nobody buys a Denmark product… There is a big Boycot.. Every supermarket warn people not to buy Danish goods… Every newspaper made a deal to inform people not to buy Danish goods too… Denmark will lose… Denmark must apologize…

In Turkey both sides are being argued, and there has been very little in the way of protest. In fact the turkish mainstream media are calling for everyone to remain clam.
Yet ıf you think a paper has a right to insult a faith, then the members of that faith ( over 1.4 billion ) have right to tell you and the paper and everyone else to go jump in the river.
Arabs only make up one third of Islam. There are more believers in Asia.
I’M a white Westerner. Our days are over. We have to learne to live in a world where the reality of the world don’t match our traditions or views.
You may hate what I have to say, but you can’t argue with the demographic facts West decline = Birth Rate. East Rise in Birth Rate.
So if you really want to stop the Arab Hord then get to bed and start humpping.

J.Cal: the problem is not demographics or the actual number of believers, but what kind of behaviour that religion encourages… As for Europe, I think visa and citizenship rules should be revised, to make it tougher for Islamic fundamentalists to penetrate into Europe.

Lol… I see you also cover this nonsense. I’m stumped at how silly people can be… I mean… such a row over something drawn on a piece of paper.
1) Every single political, religious, historic, famous or in any other way known person on the planet has had this done to before. Hell, im sure that this isnt the first time that such drawings were printed. Why all of a sudden is it so bad now?
2) Since when do people have the right to demand what another country should do or not do and put themselves above the law?
3) To constantly talk about respect, dignity, understanding and so on… yet do the complete opposite…
I know it’s not true but.. it’s getting harder and harder to deny that Islamic people are quite.. barbaric… To watch the news and see them setting fire to buildings, issueing death threats, beating up people over some drawings. Very… barbaric. A LOT of death and destruction has all been done in the name of Islam or Allah or whatever… and is still being done.
For the ‘offended Muslim’ that is still reading after what I just said… What is more offending : Someone flying not one but two planes into a building killing thousands of innocent people, or a drawing of a non-existing entity?
Side note, they’ve started protests here also against these cartoons. Or so say these teenagers… no single adult has gone on the street as of yet. Am quite fed up and am considering to write a virus to continously show these cartoons on a person’s computer if their system language is set to say… Arabic… if all these protests keep up.

1- For peapol who’s calling islam “barbaric” its not , Islam is very civi religion , If you read islamic history you would know that , The ppl that destroying shouting are the un educated peapol .
2- if it was something so small and doesen’t worth boycotting you’re product why dont you just stop drawing our prophet? read our prophet mohammad’s history and you will learn the anger , Islam is a living religion , And you offended islam more than you know .

It seems you are misinformed and was not presented with the truth about Mohammed the prophet. Well we cannot blame you because you live in Saudi Arabia and because of that in your country anything against your religion or your prophet no matter how true or not is not allowed or banned and your authorities there will only present the good ones glorifying your religon and your so called warlord prophet. So how can you expect to know the real truth from reaching you when mostly of those truth will not reach you unless you research for it.

Over 60% of the Koran is pure hatred of ‘others’. There is nothing good about kafirs. They should be slain, enslaved, raped or pay protection money for the privilege of living under permanent persecution.
No one wants to immigrate to Moslem countries because they are barbaric and backward.
