Belarusians in Warsaw

The poster says in Polish: “For new Belarus! Spring 2006. Solidarity of Europe is living in the hearts of the Belarusian people.”
Belarusians in Poland staged a small protest in front of the Belarus’ embassy in Warsaw, today. Before demonstrating in front of the Belarus embassy they delivered petitions to some of the Western European embassies in Warsaw. You can see a few photos on the Belarusian RFE/RL web pages.

I hope you don’t mind, but some days ago I found your blog and sent a link to Michael Miersch (a German journalist, writing for “Die Welt”) and now it’s featured on “Die Achse des Guten” (www.achgut.de), a blog-like thing - it’s editors are more ore less prominent journalists from Germany. This means that the readers of achgut.de are watching your blog right now. I hope this encourages you in some way…
P.S.: Here is the entry: http://www.achgut.de/dadgd/view_article.php?aid=1938&ref=0

> Blogs der Belarus-Opposition
I wouldn’t call myself “blogger der Opposition”. I’m not affiliated with any political party, though I do like Milinkevich a lot (but I think in these circumstances any normal individual would prefer this politician over a crazy authoritarian psycho). But, again, I’m not associated with opposition in any way. I’m just watching. ;)

And are the majority of Belarusians normal individuals?

Probably, yes. But they lack information and political culture (never in their history, before 1994, could they have political freedom and possibility to determine their own future by participating in the political system).
