Ukrainian journalist arrested
This Ukrainian journalist was arrested in Minsk today. It would’ve been “business as usual” for our police forces, if not for one peculiar circumstance: she was arrested exactly at the moment when she was reporting live from the Milinkevich’s meeting for the Ukrainian 5th channel evening news. So her screams were heard by hundreds of thousands of people in Ukraine. The MP3 recording is already available on their website. The audio file’s length is 1 minute 42 seconds, and the last forty seconds are her screams as she’s being attacked by the Belarusian police and dragged away to a police car, probably.
The fate of her colleague, a camerman from 5tv who accompanied her is also unknown. Ukrainian embassy is trying to establish the whereabouts of the Ukrainian journalists.
Besides the Ukrainian journalists incident, Charter97.org reports that about 20 other people were arrested during the meeting with the united opposition candidate Alexander Milinkevich. And their whereabouts are also not known at this moment.
Upd: At around 9PM the press secreatry of the Ukrainian embassy informed the media that the journalist Hanna Horozhenko is already freed and is talking with the ambassador inside the embassy.
