Tents on October square
Of course, today there are fewer people on the square (est.7,000-10,000) but they seem to be more determined. They already put up 4 or 5 tents and said they’ll stay on the October square night and day, until the new election date is set, in July. Milinkevich said he does not recognize the official results (which are massively falsified, of course).

Hundreds of special police units are stationed in the backyards of the buildings adjacent to the October square.

Thank you for standing up for rights of the Belarussian people! And thank you for keeping the world updated!
It seems you are at beginning of a long and hard battle. I wish you all the best! I’ll keep my eyes on you!

I agree with Thorbjorn, thank you for keeping the world updated. Apparently “blogs” are now the only independent source if information. Good luck!

Rea: Thank you. Well, there are other news sources too, tradional media outlets:
First of all, you can use Google News, for keywords such as “Belarus” or “Milinkevich”:
* http://news.google.com/news?hl=en&edition=us&q=Belarus
* http://news.google.com/news?hl=en&edition=us&q=Milinkevich
Please pay attention to the news source. Russian agencies such as ITAR-TASS might have news items on Belarus that are based on official reports from Lukashenka’s BelTA and can contain false information or deliberate lies.
There’s a similar news service on Yahoo, which also includes news photos:
* http://search.news.yahoo.com/search/news/?p=Belarus
* http://search.news.yahoo.com/search/news/?p=Belarus&c=news_photos
Radio Free Europe regularly publishes news and reports from Belarus:

* http://www.rferl.org/newsline/3-cee.asp
* http://www.rferl.org/reports/pbureport/archive2006.asp
The independent Belarusian news agency can be found at: http://www.belapan.com/
All their news on the elections in English can be accessed for free at:
http://elections.belapan.com/president2006/eng/index.php
* http://bhtimes.blogspot.com/ - a daily “copy-paste” of Belarus-related articles from many news sources.
* http://www.charter97.org/eng/news/ - the English version of Charter’97 opposition news.
* http://en.milinkevich.org/ - the English version of Milinkevich’s newsline.

Hi! I am originally from Belarus, and have been living in the U.S. for quite a while now. All of my family is still there, so, naturally, I am both concerned for my people and anxious for things to change. What can we do to support Belarus? This blog seems very very comprehensive and informative, and I am so thankful that things like this exist.
Do you have any advice or ideas for how we can push for change if we’re not living in Belarus at the moment?
Thanks!
