Milinkevich met EU President in Austria; Kazulin still in jail

Today Alexander Milinkevich met with the EU president, Austrian Kanzler Wolfgang Schuessel in Wien, Austria. After talking with the EU president Belarus’ opposition leader met with several other Austrian and EU officials, as well as members of the Austrian parliament. The main issue of the talks was to inform EU leadership about the situation in Belarus after the “election” and ask for some sort of support in terms of developing democratic and open society.

Meanwhile, another opposition leader Alexander Kazulin is still in jail. Lukashenka’s authorities said that investigation is going to take at least two months and that they are going to keep Kazulin behind bars until the court hearing. I think Alexander Kazulin came out the biggest loser in this campaign. He played it rough, he made provocations, he showed some of his ex-marine officer qualities, but at the end he was locked up in jail. And I think Lukashenka personally hates him so he’s going to lock him up for several years.

Interesting - in the beginning Kazulin was dissed by the opposition as a fake candidate, a “spoiler”. And now he’s suddenly the martyr? Is he really opposed to A.L. or is it another trick of the government?

And where the hell has A.L. gone? This farce is going too far.

Yes, any news of Lukashenkas whereabouts? Rambukk asked the question in his blog last Friday. (Any comments are welcome). A victorious president should not be hiding, unless his position is weakening. If the election result were just and right, he shouldn´t worry…
