For all the NHL and hockey fans in my audience:
The biggest success of Belarus ice hockey national team came in Salt Lake City at the Olympic Games (2002) when they beat Sweden 4:3 in quater final and reached semis. The game was pretty tough, and the score was tied at 3:3 just two and a […]

On Saturday we had a party at our place and our Serbian friend brought a movie “Rane” (Wounds). To quote some reviews from IMDB, it’s a “dark, bleak, hopeless, harsh story” on how disintegration of Yugoslavia affected the people. This movie could only be Serbian. This is a “reflection on nation’s conscience in a bitter, […]

According to Google Video, this is basically the only time Belarus was mentioned on any of the American TV channels (excluding C-Span) in the last several months:

There was a TV-programme about Belarusian political situation on Euronews the other day. My virtual online friend xtremeq_g did an awesome job at converting temporary Euronews video streams into permanent files that you can download:
• Europeans (English)
• Эўрапейцы (Russian and partially Belarusan)
Each file is about 4.7Mb and you need RealPlayer (real.com) to play it. Enjoy.

I’ve been feeling a bit depressed lately, so we decided to rent something funny today, ended up taking a DVD with six episodes of “Friends” from their first year (1994). And the very first episode that we see had a weird reference to Minsk as a kind of place where American physicists are dying to […]

I’ve been reading some news and bloggers’ reports from New Orleans. It sounds totally insane. Like in a horror movie. I just watched one like that, it’s called 28 days later (dvd), an awesome sci-fi horror about the virus called Rage that destoryed Great Britain, and how a handful of survivors tried to exist in […]
